The Environmental Management Division protects water quality and prevents flooding in critical storm drainage infrastructure through inspections, teamwork, innovative means and methods, and sound environmental practices.
About This Role:
This position is specifically for a Stormwater Management (SWM) Inspector, and the main responsibility of the position is to inspect various types of SWM facilities within the County.
In this role, you will inspect approximately 4-6 SWM facilities per day, and work outside majority of the time in all types of weather.
You will prepare / maintain the SWM facility inspection reports within a mobile application, coordinate with property owners and HOA's to ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely fashion, and respond to citizen complaints involving SWM facilities.
The environment is fast-paced, and you will work independently under the direction of a supervisor and be one of two total SWM facility inspectors.

and 3 years of experience with storm drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, and an understanding of engineering plans.

Preferences:
The successful candidate will have.
Knowledge/experience in the inspection of storm drainage systems, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management facilities.
Ability to read/interpret land development site plans and plats pertinent to details on storm drainage systems and stormwater management facilities.
Familiarity with storm drainage easements, stormwater management maintenance agreements, and BMP Clearinghouse specifications.
Ability to prepare computer/tablet generated inspection reports, scan documents and pictures into database; Use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to communicate clearly on inspection reports, emails, and face to face with supervisors, community managers, and citizens.
Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License.
Must pass local, state, and federal background check.
Must possess a Stormwater Management Inspector Certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia, or obtain this certification from DEQ within one year from date of hire.
Work Schedule:
Regular / Monday - Friday (37.
