The Planning Office's Current Planning Division, seeks to welcome a highly-motivated Development Services Technician to its team of professional Planners helping to create a community of choice within the Metropolitan Washington D.

Region, through the creation of innovative land use strategies.
You will perform a variety of duties within the Current Planning Division, including managing case/project files, meeting deadlines, tracking milestones, and administratively handling complex processes.
You will respond to public inquiries, perform research requests, gather, and document data, maintain public files, help prepare and edit staff reports and presentations, enter and retrieve information from electronic resources and databases, and perform a variety of other duties within the Current Planning Division.
The ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and related documents is a plus.
General knowledge of zoning and long-range planning practices and principles would be preferred.
In this role you will:
Respond to public inquiries made in person, by telephone, or internet for general information on various regulations, requirements, and standards.
Process applications including quality control review, data entry, sending notifications, distributing review packets and routing staff reports.
Record and report all monetary transactions following procedures specific to the focus area.
Perform research and coordinates information requests with or makes referrals to other divisions or county departments.
Assist in the research and interpretation of land records and/or development applications from multiple sources.
Read and interprets maps, plans, applications, and related documents.
Enter and retrieves information from various electronic resources and databases.
Gather and documents data for generating reports.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.
E.
D.
Preferences:
1 year of related planning experience.

Outstanding customer service skills in dealing with the public, co-workers, applicants, and other county agencies.
Excellent organization and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to receipt funds and post funds.
Possess strong organizational skills sufficient to maintain multiple electronic and paper case files simultaneously.
Attention to detail including the ability to edit lengthy complex staff reports.
Skill with Microsoft Office suite; particularly maintaining tasks and calendars in Outlook and the ability to format complex staff reports in Word.
Familiarity with plan drawings and surveys Familiarity with County Date Base (EnerGov, County Mapper) Special Requirements:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
