Public Health Nurse

IntroductionThe Prince William Health District has a full-time career opportunity for a Public Health Nurse.
J oin an innovative team of health professionals committed to assuring the delivery of the 10 essential public health services through education, epidemiology and prevention services.
ABOUT THIS ROLE In this role, you will be responsible for providing population-based nursing services in the community, clinic, home, and other venues to assure the health of the community.
Duties include assessment of healthcare needs of clients, families, and communities; development of plans of care when appropriate; and implementation of community health interventions, including immunizations for children and adults; reproductive health screenings; communicable disease surveillance and investigation; health education, and case management.
Our Community Public Health Nurses participate in community educational activities and risk reduction counseling, that promote awareness and support for improved health, habits, and behaviors in the population.
PREFERENCESWe require graduation from a school of professional nursing.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and experience in current nursing practices and public health principles, as well as, assessment and critical thinking skills.
They will have the ability to problem-solve, set priorities and work independently; possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills , which are essential to effectively interact with internal and external customers to promote public health.
They must also be able to effectively work with diverse populations displaying cultural sensitivity; must be competent in assessment skills and use of blood pressure and other vital sign monitoring equipment (i.
e.
scales, thermometers, etc.
), syringes to administer immunizations and medications and blood collection devices; able to work as part of a team; proficient in Microsoft Office software and able to effectively use a computer for data entry and e-mail.
This is an Open Until Filled Job Posting with Ongoing Interviews SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:
30pm.
May be required to work non-routine hours to meet episodic public health needs and/or emergencies.
ENTRY SALARY:
$62,613.
00- $70,000.
00/yr.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.

A Prince William County employee embedded within the Prince William Health District is considered an at-will employee under the Prince William County Code.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
